Goodreads asked Marsha Hinds:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Marsha Hinds When I was a little girl, my class was taken to a petting zoo. There was a sign near the horse pen that warned against touching the horses because they bite. Being intrepid and feeling rebellious, I remember approaching one of the horses and stretching up my hand to touch it.

Then I was in back of my class line, walking away.

But I can't recall what happened between those two moments! I don't remember snatching my hand away or running to catch up to the group. I don't remember if I actually touched the horse or whether it had lunged for me. I can't remember anything! It was as if there was a blip of time carved out from those two moments in my memory. It's a mystery that has plagued me on rare occasions throughout my life.
