Joss Landry asked Mimi Barbour:

Wow, you have got a lot of books, Mimi. Funny you should live in Vancouver, my husband and I just moved to Alberta, Edmonton Alberta and I love it here. Trouble is we could use a book club or a gathering of authors. Do you have any advice on starting something like this? Meanwhile I will visit your writer's page. Sounds like fun.

Mimi Barbour Hi Joss, I'm so sorry I didn't see this question until today when there was another one.
I actually don't live in Vancouver - but on Vancouver Island in a place called Qualicum Beach. I'm glad you like Edmonton. I have a nephew who moved there a few years ago and they are loving it too.
I'm sure you'll find a group of authors there - especially in the city. Try Googling RWA Chapter and see if that helps (Romance Writers of America). Let me know if you find anyone.
As for starting a local group, we did it a few years ago. First we went to the library and put up a sign for the first meeting. Usually, the public library will let you use their meeting rooms for free to a non-profit group - especially writers and book lovers. I think 4 people showed up to the first meeting. Then all of us put it on Facebook and in the local newspaper and it just blossomed from there. We now have over 45 members.
So good luck with you're group.
Take care,
Hugs,
Mimi
