Goodreads asked Julia Herdman:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Julia Herdman Mystery is something there is a lot of in my life. Where do all the odd socks come from and why, in a house full of paper and books, is there never a pen to hand when you need one, are just two examples but hardly the stuff of stories.

Mystery fiction is a genre of fiction usually involving a mysterious death or a crime to be solved. Classic versions have a closed circle of suspects, each suspect must have a credible motive and a reasonable opportunity for committing the crime. The central character is usually some sort of sleuth.

Luckily, the only crimes that fit the genre in my house are - who ate all the biscuits!
