Also, I've been recommending your series to all my friends because we were having discussions about the societal implications of artificial wombs and cryofreezing. So thank you for hours of entertainment and education!

Yes, we're still a long way from Beta Colony -- but not as far as some people think. This isn't imaginary biology, the way my wormholes are imaginary physics.

In his introduction to the first collection of his work (1950), Will F. Jenkins (Murray Leinster) describes the musings and speculations which led to each story. As regards one he says "[It] comes out on paper and I have more fun writing it than anybody will ever have reading it." May I hope that you feel similarly? Your work has given so much enjoyment to so many, including me, it would only seem just!

Part 1 of another couple of questions from me … split into two because of the space limitation. Up to the end of CVA, there are a few hints that Alys and Simon *might* consider getting married at some point. I would love to know more about what they are thinking. Also, other characters speculate about them using the replicator to have biological kid(s) of their own, but Simon and Alys never seem to mention it?

I just saw that the Sharing Knife universe is not, as I had always assumed, a (very) post-apocalyptic descendant of our own. Certain cultural details, like the birthday cake (complete with candles) as well a the plants and animals made it feel like it was closely related to our Earth. Do you see it as an alternative history version of Earth, and if so, when did the timelines split? Or has it always been its own place?
