Like a lot of families, mine has history with the American Revolution. We are descendants of a ship's captain and memory has it that he kept a journal which had been handed down through the generations. It came to a stop with a reclusive great aunt. The story goes that she hid it in the wall of her house near Cape May, NJ (a historical seafaring town), along with other items important to her. She passed on without handing it down and the home was eventually sold for back taxes years ago. The new owners are unaware of what lies hidden in their walls. Which means the items are still there, waiting to be retrieved.
