Goodreads asked Ann I. Goldfarb:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Ann I. Goldfarb Believe it or not, the plot for "A Face Out of Time," was based on a real mystery. A colleague and I found a photo in the 1923 Geneva High School Yearbook (NY) that was so out of place that we were actually stunned. Other than that, I really don't have any real mysteries in my life, only the "what-ifs" and I've got plenty of those.

In 1964, when I was 14 years old and living in Kingston, New York, I shared a cab ride with folk singer Phil Ochs who wanted me to join him at the Cafe Espresso in Woodstock to meet up with a friend of his by the name of Bob Dylan. He wanted me to spend the weekend there, no less. I had no clue who Bob Dylan was, but I did know that my parents would've sent the entire New York State Troopers out to find me if I didn't come home. I still wonder to this day what would have happened had I gone to Woodstock with Phil Ochs.
