Goodreads asked Erin L. Jungdahl:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Erin L. Jungdahl I don't think of writer's block as some creative stoppage, I think it's more like a kind of anxiety. Like if you want to write the next great American novel but you don't know how, it's easy to become paralyzed with fear. Accept that you're not going to get it right on the first try.

Write the crummy first draft and then walk away from it for a while. Come back when you've had a chance to get some perspective and edit until you can't stand to look at it any more. It's never going to be totally perfect so don't hold out until it is. Get other people's perspective and make the changes you think are appropriate. When you have at least a competent book, put it out into the world and move on to the next project.
