I gather by your last name you are Scottish? ;) Has being Scottish, the land of myth and legend, influenced your writing?

Ed McDonald My mother's father was Scottish, as was my father's grandfather, but I'm English and have mostly lived in England (lived in France for a few years in my twenties). I do love Scotland though and visit whenever I can. I'm hoping to get up for a few days during the summer if I can, the landscape is definitely inspiring.

Hi! It's been about 4 months since I last finished your trilogy and one of the things that have stood out is that when I think bad ass old man in fantasy, I think Galharrow. The norm with protagonists in most fantasy is someone young etc (the cliched protagonist). Galharrow is just so different, so did you factor that in when you made him? Also is there a possibility you could share any tidbits on future projects?
