What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Louise Cole Hard question. I work for a living,like 99% of the authors in the world and I write in those blocks of time where I can afford to push the day job aside. But when I write I become completely absorbed in that world. I love first drafts, where the characters are speaking to you and their story is unfolding before your eyes and your fingers can barely keep up. It's as exciting and scary and utterly absorbing as falling in love. And you do, in a way. You fall in love with this world and these people and for a little while,you get to live somewhere completely new.
