Is it a realistic goal for me to become an author? That's all I want to do, but I have 2 kids, am in college and am working part-time as a writing teacher so I have no time to write. I have had small pieces published. I know if I want to pursue this dream I have to drop work, or college or both... and that scares me. It's not like I will be left with nothing- my husband works- but it's still a huge plunge.

I certainly understand your dilemma, as I struggled with similar issues while I raised 3 kids and taught at a university. I don't think that anyone (other than you) can answer the question of whether or not it's a realistic goal to become a writer. I certainly know that it's hard. I would suggest that you set aside an hour or so every day to write and see how it goes. It's amazing how much you can accomplish if you set yourself a limited goal and stick to it. Best of luck!
