Dear Michael, Could you tell me if I can use the Black Beauty book cover to illustrate an article I have written for Cambridge University Press? I own this book as well as several other antique Black Beauty editions, but I don't know if photographs of the covers, even if out of copyright, can be used for academic purposes or if I need to get permission from a third party. Thank you!

When I was putting together Forgotten Bookmarks and Handwritten recipes, I included images of the books as well as the bookmarks, and there were never any issues with using the covers of the books. I would say you would be fine.
