Hi, I loved your book Mistress of Rome! I love reading and history and the way you weaved a story out of ancient Roman history is inspiring in attempting to write a novel. Do you think online communities like Wattpad and FictionPress are good resources for posting a novel in progress to gain feedback and critique? Or keep it private to submit to an agent or editor for critique?

So glad to hear you enjoyed MoR! And I say any way you can find good beta readers and critique partners is great, whether by Wattpad, FictionPress, Goodreads, or your local writers group. Finding good critique partners--people who don't just unilaterally praise OR trash your work, but have a keen eye to improve your language and your story-telling skills--is absolutely essential, because no writer can get better on their own. If you're finding good people on Wattpad and FictionPress, then that's great. A work should be as polished as possible before it's submitted to an agent. Good luck!

Hi Kate. I loved your Borgia and Roman series; I'm now reading THE ALICE NETWORK-so good. I love how you treat historical writing. I know that you've done meticulous research in such detail that I feel like I've been there when I've finished one your historical fictions. Have you ever considered Russian history? I am fascinated with the last Tsar and what happened to his family. You would blow us away!

Hi Kate, I love your Daughters of Rome series and was super sad to learn it is over - it was like watching a tv series you didn't want to end. My thanks for writing these gems. My question is this, with such strong female characters that you craft, have you ever considered telling a story about the Amazons in Ancient Greece or the women who fought alongside their men in Genghis Khan's Mongolia?
