W. Bruce Cameron Well, Ellie becomes Buddy, though. She just doesn't get shot to death. Thank you for your kind words. Movies are a different medium, and no movie ever can capture the entire book. One of the most faithful adaptations I've ever seen is The Martian, and yet they cut hunks out of the book when they made the movie. So: you just have to get used to that being how it works.
