Connie Sahn
Connie Sahn asked Zach Powers:

Thank you so much for the prompt shipment of my copy of Gravity Changes which I won through Goodreads. A very interesting cover - how did you decide on that design?

Zach Powers Hi Connie!

The cover design process can vary depending on the publisher. In some cases, an author has almost no say on the final design. Fortunately, with BOA I was able to offer input, and I recommended the image, which is by one of my favorite artists, Matt Kish. Matt was already connected to the literary world, previously publishing Moby-Dick in Pictures and an illustrated version of Heart of Darkness. The cover image for my book came from a series of works he did inspired by Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Calvino is one of my biggest influences, and the title story of my book was directly inspired by one of his stories, so it made the image an even better fit.

For the design, BOA used their regular graphic designer, Sandy Knight, who came back with this cover, and I immediately gave it my blessing. It was better than anything I'd imagined myself.

Hope you enjoy reading!
