I enjoyed Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore very much. Is this book a stand-alone or will there be a second book featuring Lydia, Raj and the workers at the store?

Hi Lynn. First, sorry I'm just getting to answering this... I somehow missed seeing your question (and the others) until now. But thanks so much for your interest in these characters. At the moment, I'm working on a novel that is set in the small town Northwest, a sort-of rural noir, and I tend to focus on one project at a time. I'm not sure if I will ever go back directly into the world of Bright Ideas. One story I might tell would be focused on Detective Harry Moberg in a sort-of parallel world to Lydia's, but even that is only a (proverbial) sparkle in my eye at the moment. One of my book clubs has set up a challenge that is based on reading a series of books in the order of the author's birth dates...and I was hoping to fit in Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore. Am I reading too much into it or has some of the characters from MBIB been named in memory of people who took solace from their depression in literature? Of course there is Plath, but perhaps Vilhelm Moberg, or John Kennedy Toole? Maybe I am missing some? Maybe I am making things up in the spirit of reading through a puzzling book?
