Did you take (lots of) inspiration from the drama "Empress of China"? I truly enjoyed your first book and even ordered the second one. It makes me a bit sad how much resemblances there is with the drama.

Thanks for asking! I haven't watched the drama Empress of China, so I can't say if there are resemblances. When I started to write about Empress Wu's story in 2005, I don't think the drama was in production yet. Also, I don't know when the drama was aired, but my book was completed in 2014. It just took 2 long years to publish, that's all.
However, Empress Wu is a historical figure, so some incidents such as she, at a young age, was summoned to the palace to serve Emperor Taizong and worked in his court, had to come from historical record.
