Sitting down and starting the writing process is what it takes, or applying one’s backside to a chair for as many hours as needed. I read more than I write, and part of my brain is always alert to something that will trigger my writing. So I guess you can say that I rarely read passively – I’m on the hunt for ideas all the time. That said, I often get ideas on long, boring car rides.
