Goodreads asked Matthew Bogart:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Matthew Bogart Going to modify this and say "What's your advice for aspiring cartoonists."

My favorite thing about comics, by far, is that it has a low barrier to entry. All it takes is paper and a pencil.

You don't even need to know how to draw, because it's not about the drawing. It's about what the reader is thinking or feeling after they read it. And you can move people, make them laugh, break their hearts, with next to no drawing skill.

Throw a smartphone or a photocopier into the mix and you can distribute them everywhere.

You can get started right now, today. It doesn't matter if they are hidden in a box under your bed, or the biggest comic on the internet. Comics are simple enough to make that you can get started in seconds, yet there’s enough to learn about them that you can get lost in them for a lifetime. So make some comics.
