Goodreads asked Anne Mercier:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Anne Mercier Well, the Rockstar series in general was inspired by a number of things.

The idea originally started with Milo Ventimiglia. I'm a HUGE fan of his and I sta--follow him on Twitter and the net. I always see in his interviews and things where he would prefer to be asked about his work than about his personal life, but everyone always asks about his personal life. They ask, "What's your favorite color?" and things like that and he'd prefer they ask about his latest work or more mature questions. (That was in an interview or a quote by the way.) He doesn't consider himself a celebrity but rather a working actor. And so that's how I pictured Lucy. Wanting to be just Luciana Russo -- Working Actress. The idea of Lucy and Jesse, about a girl/woman who crushes hard on the unattainable but one day ends up meeting him then working with him--that came out of my thoughts on a stalker Milo has (though he doesn't know it… and no, it's not me ha!). I won't go into details or name names and I made it MUCH nicer than she is.

Jesse was inspired by both Milo (the long hair in the beginning) and Matt Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold. I mean, have you SEEN him? Helloooooooo! Rock band, lead singer, sexy as hell, super good looking, amazing voice... perfect inspiration for Jesse. Then all those elements combined and The Rockstar series came to life. The other characters just "appeared" as I was writing. I knew I wanted five members in each band but that's all I knew. And I have to say that I didn't plan on the characters doing half the things they do nor did I count on that ending! It ended totally differently than I imagined it would. But that's what makes writing fun--the unexpected. I had such a good time writing this book and beginning the next has been just as fun. I really, really hope everyone enjoys reading it as much I did writing it.
