Goodreads asked Adam Ingle:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Adam Ingle Honestly I don't believe in the traditional idea of writer's block. That's not to say I haven't sat there and stared at my screen for half a day without typing the first word. The thing is, I don't believe in muses or the whole "not feeling inspired" idea. For me, writers block comes down to one of two things. I'm either lacking in the motivation area and I just have to force myself to slog through the rough times. Or the other is that I'm at a logical impasse - I don't know what to do next. Whenever that happens I start brainstorming and asking myself questions like a journalist. Why does a character need to do what I want him to do? If I were in his shoes (and technically I am) how would I go about getting it. I've found most of my blocks come from me trying to make a story or character do something it doesn't want to and once I get back into the role it usually goes much smoother.
