Sönïa Dhillion asked Katy Regnery:

Hey M. S Katy I love your books read Never let you go which is my most favourite. My childhood favourite fairytale but in your version don't speak live that too. Now I'm currently reading the vixen and the vet. I seen something common and wanted to ask are southern or do you have southern type? You either have the heroine southern if not then definitely the heroes why?

Katy Regnery Hi, Sonia...Thank you so much for your question! :) When I first started writing my modern fairytales, I had a notion that they would adopt a "Southern Gothic" style because it felt fitting for a fairytale. The southern US is seeped in tradition, with folktales and fairytales of its own, and a rich cultural history. So, I purposely wrote the first five of my fairytales in the south, drawing on local legends, lore, accent and behavior to imbue the novels with a grounded, yet otherworldly, feeling. That said, my 6th fairytale, SHEAR HEAVEN (Rapunzel), was written in New York City and my 7th, FRAGMENTS OF ASH (Cinderella), will take place primarily in New York state. So, I am falling away from my original inkling of "new" south fairytales.... though the original five will always retain something of an otherworldly feeling, drawn, in part at least, from location.
