Goodreads asked Lily Zante:

How do you get inspired to write?

Lily Zante I get irritable if I don't write!
Usually, say it's a new book idea I have, the idea is swirling around in my head, I have an event or 'something that happens' and then the characters react to that event. So I have a bare bones idea of 'something'.
The problem occurs when I sit down and try to get out the words to describe what's going on in my head. That gap - between the story in my head and what I get out on paper - can either have me typing away furiously, in which case it's all coming out, or I'm writing stuff I don't like and it's not the story in my head. And then I have to take a back seat and rethink things through. Either way, the frustration of not having the story go how I want, or have it go the way I want, both result in me finding it not so hard to sit down and write. How long I sit in my chair is another matter entirely...
