People have said "It must have felt great finishing your first novel." Well it was elation - for about five minutes - then I told myself, "You've only written ONE novel. It seemed so daunting starting the second one, which turned out to be more of an epic tale. But through the first, which I began on a vacation, and wrote mostly BEFORE work, I would tell myself, just get to the next page. Sometimes the flow was easy, but when I was struggling, that's what I told myself.
