They're so different...hard to name one a favorite. But, being a woman, and a mother, I did relate well to Claire in SON.

Thank you so much for the Giver! The world has changed so much since you first wrote it. Now, the younger generation is being separated by cell phones & the internet, losing actual human contact w/ one another. Do you think we, as a society, are moving towards a place where we stop feeling and being innately human? And what's your advice to get us back to that place of human interaction/togetherness?

I was thrilled to see that The Giver was on the recommended reading list for my daughter's school. I think that children should be given the opportunity to study and critique a broader range of genre fiction at school, rather than literary classics handed down from an examination board. Do you agree and do you sense that there is any movement in this direction?

What was your favorite type of book to read as a young adult reader and did this reading genre influence your writing style and your choice of writing for young adult readers or no particular age group. As a teacher I read many young adult books with enjoyment. In my opinion , a good story is a good story. Thank you, Dawn Copley
