David Estes
Hi David, thanks for the question! I've written a bunch of books/series, so I'll answer for my current series, The Fatemarked Epic. The answer goes back a lot of years, to when I was nine years old and discovering Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. By the time I was a young teen I'd literally read the covers off my books. Twenty years later, when I realized I had a career as a SciFi/Fantasy writer, I avoided the epic fantasy genre because I felt I could never live up to the amazingness that was JRR Tolkien. In fact, I wrote more than 20 books in OTHER genres before I gained the confidence to tackle the one I loved the most. On January 1st, 2016, a month after my son was born, I started planning and writing The Fatemarked Epic, which now stands complete (book five, Lifemarked, available for preorder) at almost a million words across five books. With numerous characters and plotlines, I can truly say I'm proud of it, and believe it lives up to the epic fantasy genre. Hopefully Tolkien would like what I've written too!
Thanks for the question! As a small token of my thanks for your support, can I interest you in a pair of signed Fatemarked bookmarks? If so, send me a direct message with your mailing name and address and I'll drop them in the mail. Happy reading!

David Estes:
Hello, I read your Fatemarked series back in 2021 and recently read it again. After completing it a second time, I continued on to your Kingfall series. These are two of my favorite series of all time! Recently learned that you're writing another series in the same world. Absolutely looking forward to it! Will it also be thousands of pages long? Thanks.
