Lois Lowry I can't name favorites because I haven't read the current ones. But from the past: I did like Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale very much.

In the book The Giver, Jonas was twelve years old but in the movie, the actor that portrays him is much older. I haven't watched the movie but in your opinion, does that change the story in any way?

Lois, As your "soul" now become someone else's "movie" how do you feel re: attempts to "co-opt" the meaning? I speak of media placing "political" meaning upon it. I ask because the novel is one of the most powerful things I've ever read, yet I can't even explain what it means to me. How can they explain it then? Do attempts to "co-opt" your voice bother you?
