What do you think about The Giver having such a huge audience and range of people reading it? I'm 18 and I gave the book to my 83 year old Granny and she really enjoyed it. I love that it is so accessible and interesting to a huge range of people but I just wondered what you thought of that?

Dear Ms. Lowry, At the end of The Giver, when Jonas has crested the hill, you write that the memory of it "was different... It was a memory of his own." What makes this memory different from all those that are fading away, and from where does Jonas get the "special knowledge" that there is a sled at the top of the hill? Sincerely, Emily
