Stghaney asked Jamie McFarlane:

Jamie, I have enjoyed your Privateer tales stories. I was wondering where your inspiration for the pseudo-science that the series uses came from? I recognize a lot of the ideas from classic literature but was curious if there was a specific set of stories that you extrapolated from?

Jamie McFarlane Growing up in the 70s and 80s, there weren't tons of choices for SF reading and I pretty much followed the standard path of Asimov, Heinlein, Nivven, Pournelle, L. Ron Hubbard, McCaffery, Orson Scott Card, Herbert and more I can't remember,

'Have Spacesuit, Will Travel', 'Starship Troopers', 'Dune', 'A Mote in God's Eye', 'Ender's Game' and 'The Ship who Sang' probably most shape what I feel make good stories.
