The origin of Soulbound was really a single question: What if elves were real? My husband, who also loves fantasy novels, and I were having a fun discussion about that question one day. I started thinking about elves living around us without us knowing. How would it work? What might happen?
That led to me wondering if they would have children with humans, and if they did, what would happen if the half-blood child found out?
After that, the initial scene where Arlyn confronts Lyr popped into my head. The point of entry for the reader was mine, too. :) I actually tried to shift the opening several times to give a bit more of her arrival, but nothing seemed to work quite as well. Everything flowed from there.
