Hi, Bethany! You certainly can read them out of order, as they are complete stories that don't depend on another story to understand them, and they don't end in any kind of cliffhanger. But, It is probably more fun to read them in this order:
1. Healer’s Apprentice,
2. The Fairest Beauty,
3. The Captive Maiden,
4. (or any time before this) The Merchant’s Daughter,
5. The Princess Spy,
6. The Golden Braid,
7. The Silent Songbird,
8. (comes out in June) The Orphan’s Wish.
9. a Mulan story, title and release date TBA.
The Merchant’s Daughter is not related at all to the first 3 books, but it does relate to the 5th book, The Princess Spy, and the 7th book, The Silent Songbird. I know that’s a tiny bit complicated, but you’ll understand as you read TPS and TSS. If you don’t, just write to me and I’ll tell you how they relate!

But while I was reading it I couldn't help but notice the many parallels to the beloved Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I wondered if maybe it was an inspiration for 'A Viscount's Proposal'. Hey Melanie, when does the Golden Braid come out? It may have already come out, but on the Internet I am getting very mixed answers and I don't want to go out to Koorong to buy it if it's not there :). I was also going to buy it for my friend for her birthday and I was wondering if it would be out by then. Thanks :) Rachel.
