I adored Sourdough and now I'm itching to read your first book. What was the inspiration for the Lois club? Is this an actual thing? Having an old-lady name myself, I loved the idea of sitting at a table sharing bread an cheese with a bunch of different Jeannettes' and comparing our lives.

Robin Sloan It IS a real thing! I learned about it from a friend named (you guessed it) Lois. That's one of those things that, as soon as you learn about it, you KNOW it's going in a story at some point. Who knows how, who knows when; but it's going in. (And, turns out, there are a lot of things like that in the world!)

Most of the businesses in Sourdough are pretty obvious as to what real-life businesses they're inspired by (e.g. Greenlight coffee = Blue Bottle, Cafe Candide = Chez Panisse... I think). What is the soup delivery place inspired by? The descriptions of that soup are so good, I'd love to check it out some time!
