I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Roni Loren The best advice I can give you is not to worry about the things you can't control. Find an idea you love and write it. You're the only person who can take that idea and write that exact story. Even if someone has a similar sounding idea, it's in the hands of a completely different writer. As for rejection, it's just part of the job. My first book published was the third I'd written. The others were rejected. Then once you're published, there are new kinds of rejection--like a publisher not renewing a contract or bad reviews or the market deciding that your genre/topic is not hot anymore. So it is an industry that requires growing some tough skin. But what's the alternative? Giving up or never trying. That's no fun either if you feel in your gut that you're a writer. Good luck!
