What other Literature, or films inspired you to write the Parasol Protectorate?

Gail Carriger My strongest writing influences tend to be authors like Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Dickens, and P. G. Wodehouse. I also through non-fiction authors like Gerald Durrell into the mix. Outside of literature? I love the ridiculous, in life, in television, online. Like most authors, I find myself inspired by any or all of these.
