Do you believe this is still "the Lynley series" or do you agree that other characters have come to mean at least as much as he has, or maybe even that this is more of an ensemble job and that's why it works as splendidly as it does so much of the time?

I've always seen it as a ensemble. While Lynley is one of the crucially important characters, others have equally compelling stories that I like to take a look at now and again. In my new book, you will see this philosophy in action.
