When reading Gathering Blue, after the Giver, I was immediately struck by the rough manner of the society. I had a hard time figuring out if Kira lives in a completely different place, or if this gruffness is the consequence of Jonas's actions.

My daughter introduced me to "The Giver" when she was in 7th grade as it was her required reading at the time. She is now 26 and I can honestly say reading that book brought to me the love of reading all over again. I am now a librarian, and I want to take this oppertunity to thank you.
