Hi Amy! I read Roanoke Girls when it first came out, and am now re-reading it for a book group at our library. I'm a librarian at Pittsburg Public Library in Kansas, and am very curious about your choice for Osage Flats. I read that you had family from Kansas, and your reason for choosing it as your setting for this story, but can't help but wonder where you visited when you were younger?

My mom grew up in Neodesha and the park in the book is loosely based on the one in Independence, Kansas. Obviously, I made the town(s) a lot more sinister and awful than they are in real life! I mainly just wanted to evoke a small town feel because my time in those towns is so clear to me still.

This has been the best book i have read in a long time!! i couldn't put it down and once i finished i have not been able to stop thinking about it. I loved how we got to see insights on the other Roanoke girls. I was interested in granddad i would have loved to know what his chapter would have said. What his parents were like?
