Wanda Karas
Wanda Karas asked Dexter Morgenstern:

Were you raised with any type of spirituality /religion? Do your ideas come from actual nightmares or just in the dark annals of your mind?Do you believe in life after death? Are you afraid of meeting your Creator after all the negativity you are putting out there in this world?Do you believe you will not have to answer for these things?

Dexter Morgenstern I come from a Jewish background, although I do not personally align with any true theism. My ideas come from imagination alone, in part inspired by the media around me. I have had some nightmares, which led to the descriptions within The Slender Man, but haven't suffered any nightmares for the past few years. I wouldn't refer to my fiction as negativity, because fiction is meant to evoke emotion and to entertain. To me, entertainment through fiction is a positive. Sometimes, the darkness a fictitious character endures is outshone by the ending or the underlying message within the story. That message, whether bluntly realistic, fairly bittersweet, or remedially bright, can impact a reader in a positive way. That is my goal: to make memorable stories. There are many things one would have to answer for in a theistic afterlife, and to me, writing fiction is not the worst item on that list.
