What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sherrie Todd-Beshore This may sound pathetic but my advice for aspiring writers is to 'write'. 1st Start with a daily journal and make your entries daily because that creates discipline which is key to writing. 2nd If you don't think anything happened in your day then pick a scene outside and describe that in detail in your journal because you're going to need the ability to create a setting for your reader. 3rd Listen to people talk and observe people as they walk or move as your characters will need to 'do' that. 4th When you create 'each' character make them 'whole' give them a birthday and a childhood experience, etc...None of this may be in your book or short story, but it will be in your mind and will help you 'build' a stronger plot and character profile. 5th Research today is so much easier than when I started, but almost impossible to leave out of any fiction if the story is to have any depth at all. 6th Have fun - enjoy this step you've decide to explore... AND finally - get your writing 'feet-wet' by contributing to a neighborhood or community newsletter they usually have deadlines and someone else sees your writing...
