How familiar were you with post-Revolutionary Russia before you thought of writing A Gentleman?

I don't speak Russian or have Russian heritage; but I have long been a fan of Russian culture. Initially through the country's 19th century literature; then through study of their avant garde before the war; then through a study of the Soviet era.

Not a question , just a thank you? I so loved A Gentleman in Moscow. Read it "by accident". I somehow clicked on this title by mistake and found it downloaded to my kindle. I knew nothing about the book or what a best seller it was. Figured I might as well read it since I now had it and within 20 pages I was hooked. What a happy mistake this turned out to be. Thank you for this wonderful , wonderful novel.

Your writing and humorous comparisons are brilliant, and I appreciate your many references to art and literature. Though I haven't read all the books and am not familiar with some of the art pieces, I was compelled to look them up and learn a bit. Using a tablet made it easy to switch between the internet and ROC. Is there a new AT book is in the works? Also loved A Gentleman in Moscow.
