I am intrigued by Maisie's daily meditation practice and how it assists her in solving crimes. Do you have experience with meditation and does it help you with your creativity?
Jacqueline Winspear
To answer in general terms - yes, I have experience of meditation, though it is not something I do with any regularity (often when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with travel, I will take a quiet time in my hotel room to center myself and become grounded). I have no doubt that it is an enormous contributor to creativity, if for no other reason that it calms the mind and allows the creative soul to emerge. And we're more likely to pay attention to our ideas if we are in a quiet space. I would say I am more of a daydreamer than a meditator, though there are some who would say it's the same thing.

First, let me say that I am a big fan of Maisie and your writing. My question is - how difficult was it for you to write about James' death and the loss of the baby? Were you hesitant to do so? For the reader, it was so sudden - I wondered if you had been planning it to happen that way from the beginning of their courtship? From a fan perspective, while I was very saddened, I can't wait for will happen next!

Hi Jacqueline. I have just recently become acquainted with Maisie and have lots of catching up to do! Could your publisher include a street map of London, one of the Underground, and one of the pertinent countryside for reference? I’d like to follow Maisie on her adventures. My maps would be very difficult to manage whilst reading at night in bed!
