Goodreads asked S.M. Anderson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

S.M. Anderson Best advice I ever received was to just write, everyday. Everyday. What had been something I did when the mood struck suddenly took on a focus and energy. My writing time is reserved for night time. Work is done, day is done, family is usually asleep. I don't have any excuse at that point. I think twenty years ago, like a lot of people that write, I was waiting for that perfectly formed lightning bolt to strike, and voila!, I'd have a story. Faulkner has a great quote about his muse, "I absolutely rely on my muse, fortunately she shows up every morning at 9 O' clock sharp."
