How do you get inspired to write?

David Wilson It's not hard. I'm usually motivated any time I sit down to write. And I'm often jotting down ideas in between writing sessions as well. Like anyone, however, I have had times when I'm not as motivated. When that happens I have to address it in one of two ways: (1) I just plow right on ahead. Usually if I force myself to write, something inspiring will happen eventually. (2) Sometimes I have to just take a little break; perhaps give my mind a rest. I have written long enough to know when I should force my way on through or when I should get away from the computer screen.
