Lissa how much time off writing do you take and do you stop writing altogether for that time? During that time can you resist the urge to capture any fleeting ideas that may grow into a chapter or a book?

I don't usually take any time off, as fortunately it is my hobby as well as my profession. We have family holidays to various music festivals throughout the year, so I don't physically write during the festivals (2-4 days), but the book continues to be written in my head, ready to be typed later!
We did once have a "proper" family holiday, a week spent on a Spanish beach, and I fetched a pen and exercise book instead of a reading book. As happens, sand got in everywhere, including the novel! You will find a chap called Sandy within the pages of Sainte Bastien, so now you know where I was when I wrote that chapter!

Lissa you are contracted to write for a publishing company. Having been in touch with and assisting self-publishers like myself and writers that have a contract with a publishing company what do you think are the pitfalls and advantages of both? If you wish only write comments that you are comfortable with. I am trying to learn from a very successful author the general differences that may not be obvious.

Hi Lissa, as someone who spent a reasonable amount of time around horses (but not flat racing, showjumpers), I can vouch for the fact that you really know horses and their moods. Just wondering, have you ever considered an Irish version of Black Beauty? or a fictional version of what happened to Shergar!?
