Goodreads asked L.L. Ash:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

L.L. Ash There's two things that I tell aspiring writers and authors.

First, and mainly, write for the love of writing!!!
You'll never last through the dredges of being an author if you don't absolutely love writing and creating stories, characters, universes or cultures. Live and breathe it.

Second, get a thick skin.
People will criticize your work. So, get good at taking criticism. It will make your work better and make you a better writer. Criticism is good and helpful, just don't let it bog you down.
This is where rule number 1 comes into play again. No matter what anyone says, you are the artist, and the story is yours. Take the criticism and weight it, and make an informed decision regarding your story.

And here's a little bonus! You will be rejected over and over and over again by publishers and agents. It happens in every successful writer's career. Take the criticism (if there is any) and just keep getting better. Don't let the rejection get to you. Eventually someone will see the brilliance of your work and will fall in love with it. Would you expect love to be anything less than hard?
