Love your books, Jodi, and eagerly awaiting the next one! Question...throughout the books, you allude to a big war that happened in the U.S. and borders closing. It's been driving some of us in our book group crazy, since you haven't yet revealed why it's even important to the stories. Do you have any plans to elaborate on that event in the next or future book?
Jodi Taylor
No, I don't really have any plans to elaborate. When I wrote the first book I wanted to make clear it was set in a time and place that wasn't quite here and wasn't quite now. I sat down and tried to think of the most unlikely scenarios I could. I talked about the sudden and acrimonious break up of the EU (!) and some sort of cataclysm that had fundamentally altered the US. I'm a child of the cold war and so the mention of a wall seemed particularly appropriate. I deliberately kept everything vague because I was setting the scene, rather than contributing to the story. Now, of course, everyone thinks I really do have a pod and have visited the future. I denied it, of course, and then wrote 'White Silence,' in which the world is enveloped in angry snow. Unfortunately, this has been the worst winter in the UK for quite some time and now everyone thinks I can foresee the future. Hope this answers your question.

Jodi Taylor:
I started with book 1 on audible and listened to all 9 books in two weeks! I do have some questions: What is the story behind the interaction between Joe Nelson and Rosie Lee in A Second Chance? Did they know each other before? Also, since Barclay is still at St. Mary’s when Max goes over to her new world, does that mean she did not leave Leon, Markham, Peterson and Guthrie in the Cretaceous?

Jodi I have a theory and I'd love to know if I'm right or not. I seem to remember you saying JODTAA was going to be a stand alone book until you realised you had more material. I remember Markham got shot and it's my belief that he was destined to die until you decided to continue the series. Is this right? Is this also why he's also thought of as indestructible?

I absolutely love St Mary’s and Time Police! Enjoyable and really stir your emotions. Thank you for making such amazing worlds to fall in love with! I can’t help but say whenever the team 236 and the member’s of St Mary’s meet they create such hilarious moments. So my question is do you think you would ever do a short story on Luke, Jane and Matthew spending Christmas at St Mary’s, I can’t even imagine the chaos?
