Dear Megan, I’m writing a novel, my debut, which is a murder mystery set in the gymnastics world. I am using your book as a comparison title when pitching it in New York, come September. Are there any other book titles that jump out at you as being a further comparison? Mine isn’t really a thriller so much as a novel of self discovery. Thank you. You did a great job building that super-intense elite gymnastics world.

Hey, Alison! Well, without knowing your book, I don't know if I could say, but it sure sounds wonderful! I read a lot of gymnast memoirs when writing YOU WILL KNOW ME, my favorite being Letters to a Young Gymnast by Nadia Comaneci. But maybe the key for you is to not get stuck on the gymnastics, but to think about novels you love that explore self-discovery. Are there some that inspire you? My favorite is Zora Neale Hurston's THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD and Sylvia Plath's THE BELL JAR (very different books!).

Your descriptions and insights into cheerleading in Dare Me inspired me to write about field hockey players and I've become a keen follower of the sport. Almost wish I could have been a player myself. Did you find you got so involved in the activities of your characters that you started wishing you were a cheerleader or a gymnast or a biochemist?

Hi Megan! I watched Dare Me on Netflix and knew I had to check out the book. I'm only a little way in and love it so much! It's crazy how alike the book and the show are to each other. I'm even able to create the exact pictures from the show while reading the book. Anyways, I was wondering.. what is your writing process like?
