Goodreads asked Milkweed L. Augustine:

How do you get inspired to write?

Milkweed L. Augustine I wrote a lengthy synopsis in my first book of poetry, SONGS OF MILKWEED, A GIFT FROM THE FIELDS VOL I, at the book's beginning about such a question. Writing for me, as both a Buddhist leader, and as one of religion itself, was the mainstay of the place where I could be myself, and where I could expiate all of my emotions and my dreams;both real and imagined. God, long ago, came to me and told me flat out, that my words would literally change peoples lives and perceptions of the world, as well as of themselves. My words have moved mountains, as they were copiously used in the Government issues concerning the plight of the condemned prisoners among us, and helping people of Tibet, as well as being a Buddhist religious leader who followed the only true God; our Lord Jesus Christ. In the church was where I was able to speak in volumes and help those in the Ordained classroom as a Professor so young; much more young than my seniors in our maroon robes. It was God who wanted me to write for not only this aspect, which is just as vital, but in addition, it was to .learn more about myself, and to delve further into the deepest reaches of the living spirit, hence becoming the individual I am today. Writing has also been the only cipher that allows me to not only be myself as said, but to allow myself to be and to thrive, and to expiate the agonies I was victim.
