Hi Lois, as I recently saw a youtube series about "The Truth about Space War" - the channel's name is Because Science - I came to realize I think I've read that somewhere in the books. In Mirror Dance I remember Mark recalling "The weapons were supposed to cook everyone neatly, like eggs in their shells". Considering he's from a universe in the future how scientifically aimed was that statement?

About as scientific as trying to boil a egg in its shell in a microwave, I expect. I mean, we don't need future-science for this.
Or, for more immediately pertinent parallels, I suppose the autopsy reports from submarine disasters would give some useful insights. All the space disaster autopsies we possess so far are from ground-based or atmospheric incidents.
Biology and medicine. They are real sciences, people...
(My closest speculative examination of the subject is probably the short story "Aftermaths", found at the end of Shards of Honor.)

Ms Bujold Did you know Ursula Le Guin? I ask because (doh) I can't ask her... I just reread "Coming of Age in Karhide", one of her best shorts, set in Gethen/Winter https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2690808608 (which has a link to the story. Anyway -- The Gethenian aren't homo saps -- we are the exceptions in the world of mammals, being permanently in kemmer -- a perversion, to their eyes. [to be con'd]

I just purchased & downloaded Penric's Fox for my Kindle. However, Amazon showed this book as "Penric's Fox: Penric and Desdemona Book 3 [Kindle Edition]". I have already read & very much enjoyed the first 3 Penric novellas so Amazon should have listed Penric's Fox as Book 4, right? It did have the "See inside" and I could clearly see it had the text of Penric's Fox. Thanks for the Penric/Desdemona series!!
