I am quickly burning through Valence. I have loved your series even though I rarely read Sci-Fi (I asked my husband for a recommendation and when he said female author/female protagonist linguist that was all the hook I needed!). Anyway, I wondered if you had a specific project in making all your lead characters female?

Thank you! Yes, I do specifically choose to make my lead characters female. I feel like the default in sci-fi is male and I want to balance that and give young women heroines that they can feel connected to and can identify with.
