I just finished reading "A Gentleman in Moscow" and loved it and I can't wait to see the upcoming television version! Was the character of the Count inspired in any way by Vladimir Nabokov, and the character of Nina inspired in any way by Kay Thompson's Eloise?

In answer to your question, neither Nabokov nor Eloise were direct inspirations for A GENTLEMAN, but they are certainly in harmony with the book and are among thousands of influences that have fed my imagination over the years.

Good morning, I just finished A Gentleman in Moscow. It has to be one of the best books I've ever read. Top 5 in 60 years. Thank you for this graceful, vivid, and fascinating story. Would Nina and Sophie's later lives make amazing novels? But then, their mystery would also be gone. A double edged sword of wanting to know what happened to them, but knowing that we always don't get to know.
